Surveillance Equipment in the Workplace

Businesses employ office surveillance and workplace monitoring for many reasons: to ensure safety of workers and staff, protect their trade secrets and proprietary information and protect against intruders. Companies that perform extensive testing, research and development of new products also use surveillance equipment to monitor the testing and progress of products and protect them from such threats as corporate espionage. In areas like steel mills and nuclear processing facilities, many processes are too dangerous for human monitoring. Violations of acceptable use policies come with various disciplinary consequences, depending on the type of violation and the nature of the policy. Surveillance equipment like acceptable usage policies are seen an integral method of maintaining employee productivity and retaining network security at many companies.
