Stanley Works to purchase OSI Security Devices

Last week, Stanley Works announced that it has agreed to purchase wireless access control manufacturer OSI Security Devices. OSI, which is based in Sunnydale, Calif., released its first line of wireless access devices in 2005. The company's most popular product is the Omnilock, dubbed "the world's first battery-operated standalone electro-magnetic lock."

Mexico City Airport beefs up security with Axis cameras and Bioscrypt biometric access control

The Mexico City International Airport isn't cutting corners when it comes to security. Recently, the airport announced plans to install an integrated access control solution that combines cutting-edge biometric technology with IP-based access control and video surveillance. The new system will focus primarily on restricting access to high-security areas such as communications rooms, power facilities and the data center, along with controlling all access points to the recently opened Terminal 2.

HID introduces SmartID access control card readers

With the ability to either work in a brand new access control system or fit in with an already existing one, the new line of HID Smart ID 13.56 MHz contactless readers is setting the gold standard for access control products.

The SmartID contactless reader was specially designed to help solve any type of access control configuration and integration challenge. It's flexible - with an open architecture and the ability to read and exchange data from any MIFARE or MIFARE DESFire card. It's also secure - with encrypted data transmission that is approved for government-level projects. It's also versatile - available either with or without a PIN pad for maximum ease of integration, and can be used with or without a complementary suite of HID access control products, including biometric data readers.

HID and Lenel collaboration boosts power of Edge IP access control


Commercial security leader Lenel and HID have announced a collaboration that is anticipated to increase the power, flexibility and efficiency of Lenel's Edge™ line of IP-based access control products.

Edge™ access control devices can control complex access control systems over a network, with door devices that can be installed with a simple power-over-Ethernet connection.

The partnership between Lenel and HID is expected to improve the open access to Edge™ technology and improve it with new and exciting advances in access control technology between the two companies.
