Sony IP cameras installed in Portugal's Dragao Stadium
Dragao Stadium serves as the new home of Portugal's Porto Football Club. The facility, which hosted the European Football Championships in 2004, has a capacity of 52,000. Because of its size, and the large crowds that gather, safety is a major concern. For that reason, officials have decided to equip the facility with a comprehensive IP-based video surveillance solution featuring Sony IP cameras.
The modern solution uses cutting-edge technology which allows security personnel and authorized users to monitor the cameras remotely. Sony security cameras are connected over a Local Area Network, making them viewable and easily controlled from a standard PC.
Both the stadium and its surrounding parking lot areas are closely monitored by the new IP-based surveillance system which includes 139 IP cameras. Sony Real-Shot Manager (RSM) software manages the cameras, remote monitoring, and digital recording. The system also includes six servers and data storage units for storing video images.
The benefits of the Dragao Stadium surveillance solution include ease-of-use and scalability, comprehensive monitoring of the stadium and parking facilities, and a number of exciting features unique to IP surveillance systems. The cameras deliver high-quality images, a large zoom range, and feature vandal-proof housing. And since communication between the cameras and the control room is conducted digitally, the surveillance system is free from interference.
