IndigoVision IP video system part of integrated courthouse security solution
A new courthouse in the Belgian city of Ghent has opted to install an integrated IP-based security system to protect its facilities. Included in the solution are surveillance cameras, converters, and network video recorders from IndigoVision, along with IP video and alarm management software, access control, fire detection, and other security systems, all operating on the same network.
The sprawling 600,000 square foot courthouse houses holding cells, hearing rooms, courtrooms, offices, and an assortment of public areas. It presents a unique challenge in terms of video monitoring and overall security. With video surveillance, access control, and alarm systems all working together in an integrated IP-based solution, there's a great deal of flexibility and scalability. In terms of video security, the system features 83 fixed and PTZ cameras, plus 34 video-intercom cameras.
All footage is converted to MPEG-4 digital video for transmission across the IP network, and NVR workstations record both the high-quality video footage as well as audio. Alarms can be triggered by camera motion detection, access control points, the video-intercom units, and the fire detection system.
