IndigoVision IP surveillance monitoring traffic system in Antwerp
A unique access control system in the Belgian city of Antwerp is now overseen by an integrated IP video surveillance system from IndigoVision. The new surveillance system monitors a series of bollards that automatically raise and lower to control traffic on city streets. PTZ cameras from IndigoVision watch for system malfunctions, vandalism, and accidents.
The bollards, which are columns that protrude from the Antwerp city streets, are automatically lowered during predetermined hours. They can also be controlled by trams and buses with onboard transponders, as well as residents and authorized individuals with special smart cards. Both the traffic control system and the IndigoVision Surveillance system operate over the same IP network.
Surveillance video from the cameras is sent to a police control room where it's monitored and recorded. Using IndigoVision's Control Center software, officers monitor live and recorded video images, and also have the ability to remotely control the cameras' pan, tilt, and zoom functionality. Footage is stored on IndigoVision Network Video Recorders.
Additionally, the IP dome cameras have inputs which are linked to a local status signal from the traffic control system. This enables automatic alarm triggering, alerting police operators and providing them with visuals if the system malfunctions. The IndigoVision surveillance system also converts footage from the city's existing analog cameras to digital, so it too can be viewed remotely from the police control center.
