Axis 215 PTZ has eyes in the back of its head
Network camera leader Axis Communications recently released its latest pant/tilt/zoom model, the 215 PTZ. What separates the Axis 215 PTZ from typical network dome cameras is its ability to pan 360 degrees. With most PTZ camera models, an operator must manually rotate an image 180 degrees in order to get a complete 360-degree perspective. The Axis 215 PTZ features Auto-flip functionality which allows it to automatically flip the image electronically, enabling properly oriented, continuous 360-degree panning without delay. Say for instance a suspected shoplifter enters the camera's field of vision. The 215 PTZ has the ability to follow the suspect a full 360 degrees without interruption. E-flip, a similar feature built into the camera, provides continuous viewing of those who pass directly below the camera.
Additional features with the Axis 215 PTZ include day and night functionality, 48X magnification, and two-way audio support which provides the operator with the ability to both listen in for unusual sounds and communicate with intruders and visitors in range of the camera. Simultaneous MPEG-4 and Motion JPEG compression optimize video streams for efficient use of bandwidth while retaining high image quality. The camera also allows for advanced remote monitoring. Operators can control the pan, tilt and zoom functions remotely over an IP network.
With its unique 360-degree panning capabilities, and compact, tamper-proof design, the Axis 215 PTZ is well-equipped to handle the video surveillance needs of indoor locations such as retail stores, banks, lobbies, and other facilities that require broad overviews as well as detailed perspectives.
